Ruby L. Brannon, 81, of Waxahachie died in her home Saturday evening August 16, 2003. She was born March 19, 1922 in Bristow, OK. She married Olen Brannon and resided in Oklahoma City, OK. for 36 years. While in Oklahoma City, she was Personnel Consultant and Manager for Acme Personnel for 32 years and assisted over 6,000 individuals to find employment. She retired in 1988.

In addition to her employment, Mrs. Brannon was a community volunteer and leader. In Oklahoma City, she was a founding member of the Second Presbyterian Church Mission where she donated many hours. Upon retirement she and Olen moved to Italy, TX. where they became member of Central Baptist Church. While living in Italy, she donated her time to Italy Fortnightly Club, the Italy Parks Department and was instrumental in the creation of Children's Memorial Park. She was also a long time active member of the Audubon Club. She later moved to Waxahachie where she became involved with the Ellis County Historical Society, Pacesetters, and served as a Pink Lady for Baylor Medical Center.

Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law: Beverly and Dan Batte; two granddaughters, Lisa Batte and Dana Batte-Walker and her husband Brint Walker; one sister, Edna Shipley-Conner of Hayward, CA.; and a host of nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Olen Brannon, her parents Jesse and Mildred Shipley; three sisters and one brother.

The family will receive friends and relatives 6-8 PM Tuesday at the Wayne Boze Chapel, 161 W. Main, Italy, Texas. 76651. The Celebration of Life will be 10 AM Wednesday, August 20, 2003 at Central Baptist Church in Italy. Interment will follow in the Italy Cemetery.
