Ruby "Scotty" Jacobs, age 91
January 14, 1915
March 28, 2006

Ruby Scott (Scotty) Taylor Jacobs was born January 14, 1915 in Justin, Texas to Lewis Simean and Wilmoth Margaret Scott Taylor. While still a baby, she moved with her family to Waxahachie and lived in the same house all her life.
She graduated from Waxahachie High School in 1932. As a Junior and Senior she was a pitcher for the Girl's Softball team. In the Depression year following graduation, she and some of her fellow graduates attended Post Graduate Courses offered by the Waxahachie School System at the Waxahachie High School.
Music was a big part of her life. She studied voice with Edna K. McDonald. She sang at the old Waxahachie Radio Station KAND and sang at weddings and funerals. For many years she was a Soloist and Member of the First Baptist Church Adult Choir. She was a life long member of First Baptist Church. She served many years as teacher and secretary for the Chldren's Department, both in Sunday School and Training Union. She also served many years as secretary for the Adult 7 Department.
She worked as Auditor, Bookkeeper and Office Manager for T.W. Burleson and Son Honey Company for sixteen years.
On January 6, 1943, she married James Lester Jacobs. They were married 54 years when he died March 4, 1997.
She is survived by: two sons, Lester Scott and wife Karon of Waxahachie and David Michael and wife Cher of Dallas; one daughter, Carol Jean Richardson and husband Shelton of Waxahachie; three grandsons, Don Richardson and wife Susan, Shelton Richardson, Jr. and Hayden Scott Jacobs; two granddaughters, Laura Capehart and husband Todd and Rachael Jacobs; five great grandsons, Thom and Brock Richardson, Tristan Capehart, and Zachary and Nathan Jacobs; three great granddaughters Courtney Cohen and husband Steve, Elyse Richardson and Brittny Capehart.
The family will receive friends and relatives 6-8 PM Wednesday at the Wayne Boze Funeral Home. The Celebration of her Life will be 2 PM Thursday, March 30, 2006 in the Pat Boze Memorial Chapel of the funeral home with Dr. John Jenkins and Dr. Shane Kinnison officiating. Pallbearers will be Billy Tapp, Shelton Richardson, Jr., Hayden Jacobs, Wes Jacobs, Gerald Jacobs and Tom Almand. Honorary Pallbearers will be T. D. Matthews, Leslie Atkins, Gene Beckham, Dr. John Compton, Dr. Robert Cox, Bob Saylors, Al Bratcher, Joe Barrentine, and Don Richardson.
Memorials may be made to the First Baptist Church of Waxahachie Building Fund.
Arrangements are under the direction of the Wayne Boze Funeral Home.
