Roscoe Jenkins, 97, of Kemp, Texas was welcomed into the arms of his Lord and Savior on Sunday, May 8, 2005, at the home of his loving family. A native of Ellis County, Jenkins was born on April 16, 1908 to Walter and Beatrice Mathis Jenkins. He attended school in Ellis County and in 1927 married the love of his life, Pauline Condor, and to this union was born two daughters, Bobbie Jean and Lou. He was a founding member of Water Street Baptist Church in Waxahachie, Lively Baptist Church in Lively and Fellowship Baptist Church in Seven Points. Mr. Jenkins was a Deacon and song leader. He worked for Dunaway Dairy and Burleson Honey both of Waxahachie and Harvey's Dairy in Fort Worth. Mr. Jenkins retired from the City of Waxahachie in 1972 after service as caretaker of the Waxahachie City Cemetery for thirty years.
He is survived by: brothers, Joe Jenkins and Neal Jenkins; daughter, Lou Wood and husband Bob; grandchildren, Brooke and Steve Afionis, Vickie Jeanne and Cecil Hennington, Tim and Loretta Holland, Bob Mack and Wanda Hugghins, Kevin and Laura Hugghins, Cheryl and Robert Owen and Monte and Debbie Woodson; and sixteen great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, five brothers, three sisters and daughter, Bobbie Jean Davis, who passed away on February 18, 1990, and his loving wife, Pauline who passed away on April 4, 1991.
The family will receive friends and relatives from 6 to 8 PM Monday at the Wayne Boze Funeral Home. The Celebration of Life will be 10 AM Tuesday May 10, 2005 in the Pat Boze Memorial Chapel of the funeral home with Brother Jim Shafer and Monte Woodson officiating. Pallbearers will be Tim Holland, Dusty Holland, Chaz Woodson, Kevin Hugghins, Joe Rodriguez and Rollin Woodson. Honorary pallbearers will be Monte Woodson, Shane Roberts, Bob Mack Hugghins, Cecil Hennington, Darren Jackson, Bryan Jackson and Guila Jackson.
Arrangements are under the direction of the Wayne Boze Funeral Home.
