Mrs. Akers passed away in Dallas. She was born in Bayou Goula, LA. to the late Rosario and Josephine Zangara Reina. She was a homemaker and a member of the St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church, 1537 Rogers, Lancaster, TX.

She delighted in being with her many grandchildren, family gatherings and her annual Easter egg hunts. She enjoyed traveling, reading and gardening. Her sons-in-law cherished her as a mother-in-law to match no other.

Her survivors include: one son, Frank Akers of Costa Rica; two daughters and sons-in-law, Jo Patricia and Bill Gilliland of Waxahachie, and Frances and Martin Rejcek of Oak Leaf; seven grandchildren, fourteen great grandchildren and eleven great great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by one grandson, Jeremiah, ten brothers and sisters.

Rosary and Visitation will be 6-8 PM Monday, June 25, 2007 at the St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church, Lancaster. Service will be 11 AM Tuesday June 26, 2007 at the church, with Father Arthur D. Mallison, Celebrant. Interment will follow at Calvary Hill Cemetery, Dallas, with grandsons as pallbearers.

Memorials may be made to the St. Francis of Assisi Building Fund or the American Heart Association.
