Ronald Watson

January 7, 1940 — February 12, 2015

Ronald Mack Watson died in his home February 12, 2015, with his loving wife Virginia at his side. He was 75. Ron was born January 7, 1940 in Whitney, Texas to E.B. and Lyna Watson. He attended Whitney schools, graduating in 1958. In 1961 he married Anita Howard in Waxahachie. There they made their home and raised their daughters. They shared 37 wonderful years together, until Anita's death in 1998. He was blessed with a second love when he met and married Virginia Melton in 2001. After Ron's retirement from Tyler Refrigeration, he and Virginia enjoyed camping in their RV and afternoons playing games with friends. He had a kind and simple demeanor that drew others to him - a trusted friend who never met a stranger. Above all Ron was proud of his family, and loved spending time with his children, grandchildren and his great-granddaughter. He told his granddaughter Ana in her graduation card "some people measure wealth by money and things, but I measure it in the love I share between my kids and grandkids". Daddy, Granddaddy, Papaw Ron will be dearly missed. Ron is survived by his wife, Virginia; his daughters Regina Engelhardt and her husband Craig, Sheryl Ground and her husband Paul, Tonja Davis and her husband Randy; his grandchildren Ana Engelhardt, Alex Engelhardt, Cody Ground, Whitney Ground, Katie Davis Ostrander and her husband Brody, Chase Davis, and Rachel Davis; and his great-granddaughter Korrie Ann Ostrander; his brother Barry Watson and his wife Betty; numerous cousins, nieces, nephews and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Anita, his sister Reta New, his son Joe Melton, and grandson David Wilson. Funeral services to celebrate his life will be held Monday, February 16 at 2:00 p.m. at Wayne Boze Funeral Home in Waxahachie, with burial following at Red Oak Cemetery. Visitation with the family will be at the funeral home on Sunday, February 15 from 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m.
