Ronald L. Roark, 78, passed away on Tuesday, May 14, 2024 and joined the Lord in eternal peace.
Born on April 10, 1946, in Waxahachie, TX, to Irvin (Kit) and Lucille Roark, Ron was a cherished lifelong resident of Waxahachie. He dedicated himself to serving his country as a proud US Marine and later as a dedicated Police Officer for 42 years, with 38 of those years spent at the Ennis Police Department where he retired. He had an unbelievable career where he was part of national coverage for solving cases and leaving a lasting impact on law enforcement. Ron considered himself an “awesome” bass fisherman and was totally dedicated to the sport. He was highly active in his children’s activities and coached nearly all their sports growing up. Ron was a huge mentor to the kids in the neighborhood and if one got in trouble, we all got in trouble. Ron was from the old school of raising and teaching young men with a heavy hand and a kind heart. He taught his children to be fair, honest, and respectful no matter what the circumstances. Ron’s commitment to the community and to the people in it was unparalleled. He was very proud of his last name and what it stood for. His saying to his children was, “you can do anything you put your mind to because you’re a Roark”.
Ron is survived by his daughter and husband; Wendy and David Sheppard, their daughter Maddison, all of Waxahachie, three sons and wives, Lisa and Rip Roark, their children, Colton and Ty, all of Carrizo Springs, Brittany and Brandon Roark, their children, Dakota, Chase, and Trinity, all of Waxahachie, Jennifer and Cody Roark, their children, Reed and Jolie, all of Dallas
He was preceded in death by his parents Irvin (Kit) and Lucille Roark and former wife, Bettie Boze Roark, leaving behind a legacy of love, strength, and guidance.
Ron will be remembered for his unwavering commitment to his family, community, and principles. His life will forever be cherished in the hearts and lives of his children.
