Ronald Dee Griffith, Sr., 75 of Waxahachie, passed away at his residence surrounded by his loving family, Friday evening, April 27, 2012. He was born on December 29, 1936 in Centrailia, IL to the late Andrew and Madeline Black Griffith. He had a large loving family and loved spending time with them. In 1954, he married Lois Conley and they created their own large and loving family with 6 children. Ron worked for LTV/Vought for 27 years as a purchasing agent for the 6 major systems of the A7D/E. After retiring, he joined the Vought Retirees Club and Vought Heritage Foundation, helping with their mission to restore all Vought aircraft ever made. He was instrumental in helping the Vought Heritage Foundation bring the V-173 "Flying Pancake" to Texas for restoration. It was the only plane of its type ever built, and had to be transported from Washington, D.C. to Texas. He especially loved the Vought F4U Corsair and enjoyed sharing his love of planes with those around him. Ron was an avid reader and always remembered trivia and other "useful" information. He was a great do-it-yourselfer, and would research anything to learn how to fix it. Ron always enjoyed traveling - he especially like camping and RV trips, and even had fun buying, fixing up, and reselling RV's and other vehicles. He also enjoyed fishing and playing golf, and was always telling stories about his latest whopper of a catch! Ron was preceeded in death by his parents, Andy and Madeline Griffith, his son, Ronald Griffith, Jr., his sisters, Leona Adams and Mary Burroughs, and his brother, Russell Griffith. Ron is survived by his wife of 57 years, Lois, sister Juanita White of Mt. Carmel, IL, and brothers Gerald Griffith of Mansfield, TX, and Mike Griffith, of Bedford, TX. He is also survived by 6 children - Debbie Kinsala, Patty Smith and husband Dale, Joel Griffith and wife Shannon, Andy Griffith, Danny Griffith and wife Sharyl, and John Griffith and wife Jenny. Ron is also survived by 17 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren. Ron was a generous and kind man, and was extremely proud of his family. He is loved and missed by many. Services to celebrate his life are scheduled for 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, May 01, 2012 at the Pat Boze Memorial Chapel of Wayne Boze Funeral Home with Father Henry Drodz officiating. Interment will follow at Lakeview Cemetery, Waxahachie. Visitation for family and friends will be held from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. Monday, April 30, 2012 at Wayne Boze Funeral Home. Those serving as pallbearers will be his grandsons, Robby Kinsala, Eric Wells, Chris Whitehead, Brad Owens, Preston Griffith, Travis Smith, Logan Griffith, Joel Griffith, Jr., and Brandon Griffith.
