Mr. Rogers passed away Friday morning at Baylor Medical Center in Waxahachie. Mr. Rogers was born in Waxahachie to Steve R Rogers and Virgie Williams Rogers. He was raised in Waxahachie graduating from Waxahachie High School in 1945. Mr. Rogers served with the US Army during W.W.II and married Dorothy Boyd December 24, 1946 in Waxahachie. He was a longtime member of Farley Street Baptist Church, where he was a Deacon, Sunday school teacher and served on numerous committees. He was employed with the Texas Baptist Home for Children as the Internal Manager and later Director of Maintenance retiring after 31 years of service. He was an avid fisherman and golfer.

He is survived by his loving wife of 62 years Dorothy Rogers of Waxahachie, 2 daughters; Glenda Pevehouse and her husband Morris of Red Oak, Vikki Odom and her husband Randy of Waxahachie, 1 son Alan Rogers and his wife Suzanne of Red Oak, 1 sister Margree Mitchell of Fort Worth, 1 sister-in-law Ina Shireman of Huntsville, 7 grandchildren, 2 great grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, 1 sister and 1 brother.

The family will receive friends and relatives from 6 to 8 PM Sunday evening at the Wayne Boze Funeral Home. The Celebration of Life will be 10:00 AM Monday, February 16, 2009 in the Pat Boze Memorial Chapel with Pastors Lance Odom and Chad Rogers officiating. Interment will follow at the Waxahachie City Cemetery.

The family requests that Memorials be made to the Texas Baptist Home for Children.

Arrangements are under the direction of the Wayne Boze Funeral Home.
