Roland Calvin Brashear, age 85
January 19, 1921

Mr. Brashear passed away Friday, February 24, 2006 in Lancaster. He was born in Maud, Oklahoma to Minnie and Alvin Brashear, on January 19, 1921. His family moved to Texas when he was a child. He served in the Army Air Corp during World War II as an aircraft mechanic. He was a very patriotic person who loved his country dearly. He retired after 55 years from T.L. Wheeler/Wheeler Enterprises & ABCO Lumber and Hardware Company, in Dallas, Texas. Roland was a wonderful family man who loved God and his family and above all else, he raised his children in church and taught them to be loving, respectful and honest adults. He lived the last few years in Red Oak, Texas . He always led by example and will be greatly missed by all who were lucky enough to know and love him. Over the years he has attended various United Pentecostal Churches.
Mr. Brashear is survived by his children; Linda Sloss, of Comanche, Ok., Wayne and Barbara Brashear and Ted Brashear Jr. of Benbrook, Tx., John and Dena Brashear of Red Oak, Tx., and Brenda and Jim Pettis of Texarkana, Ar., Six brothers, two sisters, fifteen Grandchildren, eleven Great Grandchildren, and many nieces, nephews and friends. He was preceded in death by his wife, of forty nine years, Doris Marie Brashear , who was both his wife and best friend ; his grandson, Brian Sloss, and son-in-law, Eddie Sloss.
Visitation is scheduled for Sunday, February 26, 2006 from 5-7 PM at Red Oak Funeral Home with the Celebration of Life to be at 10 AM, Monday, February 27, in the chapel of the Red Oak Funeral Home. Pastor Jerry Lowrey of New Life Ministries, Red Oak, Texas and Brother D.L. Martinez of First Pentacostal in Grand Prairie will be officiating at the service. Pastor Roy Brashear will officiate at the graveside. Grandsons will serve as pallbearers with Grandaughters serving as honorary pallbearers. Interment will be in the Crown Hill Cemetery, in Dallas at 12 noon.
Arrangements are under the direction of the Red Oak Funeral Home.
