Robert Michael Woodard, a native of San Antonio, Texas passed away May 10, 2007, in Waxahachie, Texas. He was born September 23, 1936, to Howard L. Woodard and Carmen Gibson Woodard. Mike received his early education at St. Patrick's Academy and graduated
from Sam Houston High School. Mike, who was legally blind, began working for the City of San Antonio in the Parking Division with the Public Works Department in 1959 as a Meter Mechanic. San Antonio was the first city in Texas to give a blind person the chance for a responsible job. Mike retired from the City after 38 years of distinguished service. He attended St. Benedict's Catholic Church and St. Luke's Catholic Church.
His survivors include: uncles, W. R. Gibson of Plano, TX., William C. Gibson of San Antonio, TX., Eugene Gibson of Brownwood, TX., and Sterling Gibson of Andrews; aunt, Winnie Gibson O'Donnell of Waxahachie, TX.; and numerous cousins. His parents preceded him in death.
A Rosary will be said at 7 PM Sunday at the Dellcrest Funeral Home, San Antonio, Texas. The Mass of Christian Burial will be 11:30 Monday, May 14, 2007 at the St. Benedict's Catholic Church, also in San Antonio with Father Eddie Bernal Celebrant. Interment will follow in the San Fernando II Cemetery.
Local funeral arrangements are under the direction of the Dellcrest Funeral Home, 2023 S. WW White Road, San Antonio, Texas.
