Robert Tuley

Robert Raleigh Tuley (76) of Waxahachie, Texas, passed away peacefully Monday, November 1, 2016. He was born October 10, 1940, in Beaumont, Texas, to Raleigh Robert Tuley, Jr., and Marguerite Dobbs Tuley. He graduated from Abilene High School in 1959 and earned a Bachelor of Business Administration degree at Texas Tech in 1963 and a MBA from SMU in 1970. He began his career at First National Bank in Dallas. In 1965 he began employment with Southwestern Bell, a career that lasted for over thirty years, taking him and his family from Dallas to Denison, Texas, St. Louis, Missouri, and Tyler, Texas, finally settling in Waxahachie in 1987. On April 10, 1965, he married Anne Louise Long in Grand Prairie, Texas. He retired from SW Bell in 1994 and later worked for Fidelity Investments until his second retirement in 2005.

During his adult life, he developed an interest in colonial woodworking and architecture and made many pieces of furniture for his own home in the Williamsburg style and several for his daughters.

He was a long time member of the Episcopal Church in various cities and of St Paul in Waxahachie since moving here where he and his wife Anne made many deep and lasting friendships. He served as Senior Warden in 1995.

Robert is survived by his wife Anne; daughters Tiffany Grassmuck and husband Greg of Dallas, and Rebecca Oberlander and husband Brian of Nashville, Tennessee; five grandchildren Raleigh and Grace Luxon of Dallas, and Arden, Matthew, and Nicholas Oberlander of Nashville. He is also survived by his brother John and his wife Carolyn of Spring, Texas, and nieces and nephews.He was preceded in death by his parents.

Visitation will be 6:00-8:00 pm, Friday, November 4 at Wayne Boze Funeral Home, 1826 W Highway 287 Business, Waxahachie, Texas 75165; the funeral will be at 2:00 pm, Saturday, November 5, at St. Paul Episcopal Church, 624 Ovilla Rd, Waxahachie, Texas 75167, followed by interment at Waxahachie City Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Paul Church or Simmons Cancer Center at UT Southwestern.
