Mr. Steele passed away late Thursday evening at Renfro Care Center in Waxahachie. He was born and raised in Waxahachie. His parents were John R. and Ellen (Jones) Steele. Mr. Steele joined the US Army in 1951 and transferred to the Army Reserves serving eight years. He married Bobbie Sue Glasscock February 14, 1950. He was a TXI truck driver, retiring in 1975. When he became disabled, he moved to the Tyler area in 1988, returning to Waxahachie in 2003. He was a lifetime member of the Water Street Baptist Church of Waxahachie. He loved his Lord, kids and grandkids.
Mr. Steele's survivors are: the mother of his children, Bobbie Sue Steele of Tyler; sons, John R. Steele of Milford, Tommy W. Steele of Waxahachie, Michael Steele and Soledad of Tyler; daughters, Brenda Goodson of Tyler and Donna Powell and Richard of Ft. Worth; three brothers, Wayne Steele and Crickett of Waxahachie, Charlie Steele also of Waxahachie, Doyle Brown and Linda of Dallas; sisters, Betty Stultz and Jackie of Italy, Sandra Stacks and Clifford of Waxahachie, Mary Ellen Atkinson and Larry of Etoile, TX.; brother-in-law, Bill Lowe; fourteen grandchildren and seven great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother, Billy Joe Steele, and two sisters, Evelynn May Steele and Wanda Jeane Lowe.
The family will receive friends and relatives 2:30-4:30 PM Sunday at the Wayne Boze Funeral Home. The Celebration of Life will be 10 AM Graveside Services at Waxahachie City Cemetery with Reverend Crickett Steele officiating. Interment will follow.
