Mr. Wilson was born in Ellis county the oldest of nine children to Robert E. and Cynthia (Sells) Wilson. He graduated from Midlothian High School and has a lifelong resident of Ellis County farming in his early years. He married Lois Summerlin in Tyler, Texas in 1954. He worked for Tyler Refrigeration in Assembly and later as their night watchman for 25 years. Mr. Wilson was a member and Deacon of the Primitive Baptist church. He enjoyed crossword puzzles and loved baseball.
He is survived by one son Jeff Wilson and his wife Iris of Waxahachie, two daughters; Marie Smith and husband Carrie of Waxahachie, Estelle Brown and husband David of Milford, two sisters; Erma Bradley and Jewell Butler both of Hillsboro, 10 grandchildren, 22 great grandchildren and 3 great great grandchildren. Preceding him in death were his parents, first wife Myrtle, second wife Lois, one daughter Lucille Bonner, one son Roy Olan Wilson, four brothers; Roy Herman "Ham" Wilson, "Buddy" Roscoe Wilson, "Johnny" Wilson, and two sisters; Naomie Shaw, Moneta Edwards.
The family will receive friends and relatives from 6 to 8 PM Tuesday at the Wayne Boze Funeral Home. The Celebration of Life will be 2:00 PM Wednesday in the Pat Boze Memorial Chapel with Brothers Dan Newman and Vernice Stanland officiating. Interment will follow in the Mountain Peak Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be grandsons: Bobby Wilson, Jason Bryant, Rance Taylor, Lewis Bryant, Mark Smith, Heath Taylor.
Arrangements are under the direction of the Wayne Boze Funeral Home.
