Mr. Batte, lifetime Italy farmer, passed away at Pleasant Manor Health & Rehab Wednesday evening. He was born in Italy to Robert and Linna (Strong) Batte. He married Juanita Smotherman November 28, 1937 in Midlothian Mr. Batte was Past Master Masonic Lodge #647, Italy, Italy School Board Director and Founder of the South Ellis County Water Coop, Texas National Guard and Charter Member of the Ellis County Farm Bureau. He was also a member of the First Baptist Church of Italy.

His survivors include: sons and daughters-in-law, Charles and Aileen Batte of Belton, Gary and Sue Batte of Stephenville, Dan and Beverly Batte of Waxahachie; grandchildren, David Batte, Carol Batte Davis, John Batte, Lorri Batte Etheridge, Lisa Batte Bernard, Dana Batte Walker; great grandchildren, Sara Grace Batte, Garrett Etheridge, Holden Batte and Dillon Batte. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, Juanita Smotherman in July 1997, brothers, Jewel, Ray, J.W., Eldon, Hamilton and Cecil; sisters, Hazel Batte Young and Maureeen Batte Spicer.

Family Visitation will be from 6 to 8 PM Friday at the First Baptist Church in Italy.
The Celebration of his Life will be 10 AM Saturday January 13, 2007, also at the First Baptist Church of Italy with Pastor Ronnie Dabney officiating. Pallbearers will be David Batte, John Batte, Mark Davis, Trey Etheridge, Brent Walker, and James Bernard. Interment will follow in the Italy Cemetery.

Memorials may be made to the Dunlap Library, Italy, or the charity of your choice.
