Robert Freeman, 71 of Red Oak, passed away Tuesday, March 10, 2015 in Red Oak. He was born July 31, 1943 in Marshall, Texas. Robert loved to tell stories of his truck driving days and the many adventures he had on the road. Robert never met a stranger and was a quick wit so there were many stories to be told. His favorite was his adventures driving a semi hauling nitro-glycerin to Alaska. He was pulled over by highway patrol (obviously a new recruit) and told to get on scales. He tried to explain that he shouldn't get on scales because of combustible nature of his load. Officer insisted so Robert complied. When senior officer on the job saw what was happening, Robert was quickly told to get off the scales ASAP and be on his way. He just smiled at the new recruit as he drove away. Everyone who interacted with Robert quickly learned to love his easy going, non-assuming nature. He is survived by his wife, Patricia Freeman of Red Oak; his mother, Daisy Freeman of Waxahachie; sister, Patricia Parks and her husband, Perry of Beckville, Texas; daughters, Lisa Baron of Monette, Arkansas, LaDonna Hampton and spouse, Monette of Arkansas; 7 step children; 17 step grandchildren and 22 step great grandkids; he is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father, Vernon Freeman. Services to celebrate Robert's life will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, March 13, 2015 in the Pat Boze Memorial Chapel of Wayne Boze Funeral Home with Bro. James Smith officiating. Interment will follow at Laurel Land Memorial Park, Dallas. Visitation for family and friends will be held from 6-8 p.m. Thursday, March 12, 2015 at Wayne Boze Funeral Home. www.waynebozefuneralhome.com
