On November 27, 1945, this world was blessed with the addition of Bob Fogarty. He was the youngest of 5 children, to John J, and Remi C. Fogarty in Yonkers, New York. When he was just a small child, the family moved to Colorado Springs, Colorado. Growing up, he made his own way, and it ended in a journey to Cal Farleys Boys Ranch in Amarillo, TX, from age 7-14.
Upon returning to Colorado, he attended Wasson High School in the Springs. Shortly after his graduation, he enlisted in the US Navy, and was set to see the world. Not so long later, he was given an honorable medical discharge - Said he wouldn't see 5 more years. Thankfully they were wrong! We were blessed with almost another 5 decades of his charm, stories, smile, and laugh.
He was married to his soul mate, Joyce Fogarty, in June 1967.
Soon after their marriage, they moved to Dallas, TX, to begin their lives together. He had been a Police Officer in Highland Park, Tx, a security guard for JCPennys, and so many others, before finding Decks. In July of 1983, he had his daughter, Nicole, 33, the 2nd love of his life.
Bob lived an action packed life of his own creation, and never lived in the past. His health in his final years has been hard, but even during the darkest days, he still had that million dollar smile. He was the proud Papa to one grandson, his namesake, Robert Wren, 11. The two Roberts were baptized together in August 2016, one of his proudest days.
On November 21, 2016, Bob was called home to Heaven. He was preceded in death by his mother, father, and sister, Shelagh, and brother, Patrick. He was survived by his wife, Joyce, daughter, Nicole, and grandson, Robert, as well as sister, Remi Baker, and brother, John "Jack" Fogarty, and numerous nieces and nephews. Celebration of his life will be held at his church home, the Cowboy Church of Ellis County in Waxahachie, Monday, Nov 28, 2016. Visitation 10-11, Funeral 11-12, and burial to follow at DFW National Cemetery in Grand Prairie at 1:30. The family asks that those who wish to, please not send flowers, but instead make a donation to the Cowboy Church of Ellis County Building Fund in his name.
Arrangements are under the direction of Wayne Boze Funeral Home in Waxahachie.
