Robert Hardin Cunningham June 9, 1928 February 24, 2012 Robert Hardin Cunningham, born June 9, 1928 in Ashdown, Arkansas, went to be with our Lord and Savior Friday, February 24, 2012, at age 83. He came from a large family having grown up around Broken Bow, Oklahoma. He spent the early years of his adult life there as well where he married and had three lovely children with his first wife Norma Massey who always remained dear to him. Robert moved to California in his mid twenties and married Elizabeth John. They had five children together. They lived in California for about 10 years and moved around a bit until they settled down in Waxahachie in 1969. He had a love for travel and found being a truck driver very satisfying. He retired from Flexsteel Industries in Waxahachie. After losing his loving wife of 42 years, he spent the next several years just cherishing all his children. He was again blessed with another loving wife, Tommie Dickerson McCurdy, of Corsicana for the last seven years of his life, gaining four lovely step children and their families as well. Robert held family the dearest thing to him and spent all his life showing his family his love. He shared himself with his entire family and kept in frequent contact with those who were far away, children, brothers, sisters and so forth, just always keeping in touch. Besides his wife, his children were everything to him. He was a proud husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, uncle, brother and cousin. He always loved the outdoors and enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping and family gatherings. Him and his wife Tommie loved to entertain friends and family with games of 42 on a regularly basis and were quite social. He spent the last several years of his life under the leadership of Jesus Christ and his desire to make him proud. Robert and his wife were members of Missionary Baptist Church in Corsicana, TX. He is preceded in death by his late wife of 42 years, Elizabeth and their son Richard, his mother and father Mack and Minnie Cunningham and several siblings, Homer, Essie, Tony, Francis, George and Pete, along with his dear brother-in-law and special friend Roy Kelly.
