Robert L. Beer, age 90

Mr. Beer passed away Sunday afternoon at Baylor Hospital Ellis County. Mr. Beer was born in Roanoke, IL. to William and Mollie Gehring Beer. A graduate of the University of Illinois, he came to Texas in 1938 to work for Burleson Honey. In 1940 he married Jean Shinpaugh, daughter of J.D. and Pauline Shinpaugh. He served in the Southwest Pacific during WWII as a 1st Sgt. and as a 2nd Lieutenant.
After the War, Robert ran a dairy located on Brookside Road West where he and his family have lived for 58 years. He taught school in Maypearl, Waxahachie, and Ferris during the 1960's and 70's. He served as the Superintendent of Milford I.S.D. (1973-4).
A lifelong and committed Christian, Mr. Beer was a founding member of Waxahachie Bible Church.
Mr. Beer is survived by: two sons, Donald Beer of Mexia, TX; Col. Jan Beer and wife Gerri of Columbus, Ohio; two daughters, Barbara Mouser and husband Bill and Kathryn Jean Beer all of Waxahachie; one sister, Ruth Beer Tibbetts of St. Petersburg, FL.; granddaughters, Tara Jan Hutchens and Joy Lynn Tarpley of Newman, GA., Starr Renee Beer of Columbus, GA., Alexa Kay Mouser, Geneva Ruth Mouser, and Veronica Marie Mouser of Waxahachie; two great granddaughters, Casey Renee and Alina Joy Hutchens and one great grandson, Conner Christopher Hutchens. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, four brothers, three sisters, and his granddaughter Francesca Mouser.
The family will receive friends and relatives 6-8 PM Tuesday at the Wayne Boze Funeral Home. The Celebration of Life will be 10 AM Wednesday, May 12, 2004 in the Pat Boze Memorial Chapel at the funeral home with Rev. Bill Mouser and Pastor Bruce Zimmerman officiating. Pallbearers for Mr. Beer are Jim Agens, Jim Britt, Billy Eaton, Bill Kelley, B. J. Peterson, Dwayne Shinpaugh, Layne Shinpaugh, and Lt. Gen. John Van Alstyne. Interment will follow at the Waxahachie City Cemetery.
