Robert Abrahamsen

August 9, 1940 — August 14, 2024

Robert Abrahamsen joined our Lord and Savior in Heaven on August 14th, 2024 after a full and robust life here on earth. He passed away peacefully in Waxahachie, Texas with his family by his side. He is survived by his wife of almost 63 years Shirley. He is also survived by his daughters and bonus sons, Debbie (Paul) Thrasher and Becky (David) Whitmire, his 5 grandchildren, Dennis (Tricia) Hearn, Bryan (Claire) Hearn, PJ Thrasher, Mallory (Bryan) Thrasher, and Logan (Jackie) Thrasher and his 5 great grandchildren, Adeline, Emmerson, Brig, Liliana, and Theodore.

Robert Edward Abrahamsen born on Aug. 9, 1940 in Brooklyn, NY to Conrad Abrahamsen and Pauline Severson Abrahamsen. The family moved from New York to Texas when he was a small child. Eventually they made their way to and settled in Dallas, TX in 1954 where he attended South Oak Cliff High School. He left school to join the Army where he was in the auto pool as a mechanic.

While in Dallas he also met the love of his life, Shirley Ann Mazzucco. They married August 22, 1961 and made their home in Dallas, TX. He began his career as an automotive technician and worked for Ford Dealerships throughout Dallas during his long career. He was a Ford Certified Technician and could work on anything with a motor.

Robert and Shirley had 2 daughters who adored him, Debbie and Becky. He was a present and proud father who led his family by example. He and Shirley put Debbie and Becky through Catholic school and were very active in their upbringing. Robert was very involved in St. Cecilia Catholic school and parish. He volunteered countless hours beginning when his girls were in elementary school. He volunteered in their girl scout organization, helped cook for St. Cecilia each Friday when they had a fish fry, and helped Shirley as she worked in the kitchen at St. Cecilia.

Robert's favorite hobby was working on cars. He was an auto technician for 42 years at various Ford and Mercury dealerships, but his family were the lucky ones, as he was always their personal mechanic and advisor to any automobile question. He also enjoyed golfing with his grandsons and sons-in-law, scuba diving, and most of all the casinos. He was also involved in the Knights of Columbus for many years and served as Grand Knight at one time.

Robert will be remembered by all that knew him as a positive man who led by example. He was a man of few words, but when he spoke you listened. He was the glue that held his family together. He showed everyone around him what it means to lead and provide for your family. Proverbs 20:7 states the righteous who walks in his integrity, blessed are his children after him. Robert will not be forgotten, as his life has brought blessings on all of us
