Rickey Hill,Sr.

December 2, 1947 — September 13, 2017

Waxahachie lost a prominent, well- respected member of the community, Wednesday September 13, 2017, with the passing of Rickey Hill at the age of 69. Rickey was born December 2, 1947 to the late R.C Hill and Janie Childress Hill.
Rickey was a man of integrity, honesty, loyalty and an admirable work ethic. After retiring from Owens Corning Fiberglass, in 1983, Rickey decided to take his passion for cars from the racetrack to starting his own auto repair and towing company- Hill's Towing & Recovery. Although he only had a 9th grade education, Rickey knew there would be obstacles, there would be doubters, there would be mistakes, but he also believed with hard work- there would be no limit to his success. Being self-employed in the towing industry was not for the faint of heart. It was for the brave, the patient and the persistent-it was for the overcomers.
Rickey was the epitome of a hardworking man, he worked for everything he had, he knew the value of a dollar and his handshake or word was more respected than any written contract. Rickey excelled at being a father, grandfather, son, brother, uncle and friend; instilling his legacy on us all; one of earned respect through his unmatched work ethic, his determination to himself and the dedication, he felt, for not only his family and friends- but also the whole community.
I changed my lifestyle for this
I worked late for this
I changed what I wore for this
I sweat for this
I lifted heavy for this
I pushed hard every day for this
I made this and I became this
