Lieutenant Colonel Richard Earl Pigg, United States Army Reserve (Retired) 81, of Waxahachie, passed away from complications associated with cancer on Sunday, October 1, at Baylor Scott & White Medical Center in Waxahachie. He was born July 27, 1936, in Dallas, Texas, to the late Calvin Pigg and Virginia Taylor Pigg.
Richard is survived by his daughter, Lisa Elliott; two sons, Von Pigg and Ron Pigg; his brother, James Calvin Pigg and wife, Tommie, and their children, Deborah Pigg Bedford and James Pigg; three grandchildren, Max Elliott, Justin Pigg and Sarah Pigg; former spouse, Lee Pigg; and a multitude of other family and friends.
Richard was a member of the Ellis County A&M Club and the Waxahachie Cowboy Church. Richard graduated with a Bachelor of Science Degree from Texas A&M University. He took great pride in his military service to his country and introducing local students to Texas A&M University.
Visitation will be held Thursday, October 5, 2017, from 6:00 pm to 7:00 pm at Wayne Boze Funeral Home located at 1826 W. Hwy 287 Business in Waxahachie.
Services to celebrate his life are scheduled for 10:00 am Friday, October 6, 2017, also at the Pat Boze Memorial Chapel of the Wayne Boze Funeral Home. Entombment will follow at a later date in the DFW National Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations be made to the Ellis County Texas A&M Scholarship Fund.
