Rod Montgomery, age 69

Rod passed away Saturday afternoon at Methodist Central Hospital in Dallas after a brief illness. Rod was born in Waxahachie to Odell and Josephine (Beckham) Montgomery. He graduated from Waxahachie High School in 1956 and attended North Texas University at Denton. Rod had served with the Texas Army National Guard in Waxahachie, and was a longtime member of the Ferris Heights United Methodist Church. Rod was a longtime employee/owner/monument artist of Montgomery's Waxahachie Marble and Granite Company where he was still associated for 60 years.
Surviving him are: his 2 sons; Brad Montgomery of Cleburne, Rodney Montgomery and his wife Norma of Waxahachie, and 1 daughter Monica Baxter and her husband Robert of Irving, and 6 grandchildren. Also surviving are: 2 brothers; Bobby Montgomery and his wife Barbara of Ennis, Jon C Montgomery, and one sister Sherrie Montgomery both of Dallas, numerous nieces, nephews, aunts and uncles. Preceding him in death was his grandfather Charlie, his parents and his daughter Jill who passed away in 1982.

The family will receive friends and relatives from 12 Noon till 2pm Thursday, February 7, 2008.at Wayne Boze Funeral Home, with a Service Celebrating his life immediately following at 2 P.M with Wayne Thompson speaking. Interment will follow at the Waxahachie City Cemetery.
