Richard Henager

1958 — January 1, 2019

Richard Dale Henager, Loving Husband, Father, Pappy, Brother, Uncle and the greatest friend to ever could have had quietly passed away on Monday, September 9, 2019 in the comfort of his home.

Richard was born on March 4, 1958 in Dallas, Texas.  He is preceded in death by his Mother, Louise Henager Leslie and Father, Price Bates Henager.   He is survived by his loving wife of twenty-seven years in Marriage, Melanie, his four children Brandy Richmond, Courtney “Will” Henager, Joshua Henager and Bryant Sparks, his ten grandchildren, two brothers, five sisters, many nieces, nephews and countless children he counted as his own.  Richard contracted Polio at the tender age of six months old.  As a child he never complained about what he couldn’t do.  He would just show you what he could do.  Richard graduated from Sunset High School in 1977 and was coined “Supercrutch.”  Richard walked every day and would say it was because “Jesus was always with him.”  He was a kind man and had an aura that you could not help but be magnetized to.  He always had a smiling face, a helping hand, a shoulder to cry on, an ear to listen, he was a brother in arms or a hug to support you even if he was facing a great diversity.

Richard was never one to dwell on sadness or his own impending death.  He wanted everyone to know that he lived, laughed, loved and scared the hell out of more people so they could be with Jesus when their time came to leave this world.  His death was his final hurrah of stubbornness, refusing to do what his loving wife, family and Doctors pleaded for him to do.

A simple viewing will be held at Wayne Boze Funeral Home 1826 W. Hwy 287 Business, Waxahachie TX 75165 will be held on Saturday, September 14, 2019, Eleven a.m. to One p.m.  He asked that anyone attending to please wear denim and come as if you were just stopping by to visit him once more.

In lieu of flowers Richard stated that he would like donations to be made to Scottish Rite Children’s Hospital or he hopes that you will do an unexpected and unsolicited act of kindness for some poor unfortunate soul in his name.
