Richard Duckett Grove, Jr. Oct. 4, 1927 Oct. 6, 2011 Richard passed quietly into another life in the arms of his savior Jesus Christ with his family at his side. Richard lived life to the fullest and loved his country by serving in the US Navy and Navy Seabees for 39 yrs. and 5 mos. He was a part of WWII and Viet Nam. He also worked as a civilian at the Naval Air Station in Grand Prairie, TX in the Public Works Dept. as an electrician where he retired after 27 years. He always worked with his hands and had many hobbies. He loved his home in Red Oak where he tended to cattle and many other animals. He was a former member of the Dallas Sheriff's Posse and Lions Club, current member of the Masonic Lodge for more than 50 years, life member of Seabee Veterans of American and Veterans of Foreign Wars, and a current member of Rockett Christian Church in Rockett, TX. Survived by: daughter Sherri Brown and husband Rick, daughter Louanne Knight and husband Pat, daughter Kelly Hathorn and husband Kevin, daughter Lisa Vierling and husband Greg, Stepdaughter Christine Ferrera and husband Matthew, Stepdaughter Barbara Rodges, Stepdaughter Billie Jo Vick, Stepson Michael Hall, 21 grandchildren, numerous great grandchildren and great-great granddaughter Alli who gave him much pleasure in the past 3 years, his sister Marie Chambers, life long family friend Jane Cooper, former wife Fran Grove, and numerous extended family and life long friends. He was preceded in death by his loving wife Patsy Ann Grove, father Richard Duckett Grove, mother Elizabeth Adelaide Kreger Nabors, stepmother Mary Ida Grove, and former wife Alta Fern Grove. Services to celebrate his life are scheduled for 10:00 AM Monday, October 10, 2011 at the Pat Boze Memorial Chapel of the Wayne Boze Funeral Home with Rev. CD Haun and Pastor Don Cato Officiating. Pallbearers will be from the U.S. Military. Internment will be Tuesday, October 11, 2011 at 12:00 PM at Leakey, Tx where he will be laid to rest. The family wishes to express their sincere gratitude to Odessey Hospice of Waxahachie, TX for their love and care during the past months. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Roy L. Dunlap Memorial Scholarship Fund, The Masonic Lodge of Red Oak, TX, Masonic Lodge of Irving , TX, or Rockett Christian Church, Rockett, TX.
