Rex Allen Hilbert, Sr. 70 of Waxahachie, passed away Monday, May 18, 2009 at Baylor Medical Center Hospital of Dallas. He was born to Horace Fowler and Zelda Walts Hilbert-Fowler on October 25, 1938 in Falls County, Texas.

Rex was the life of the party! He was an avid fisherman and hunter and did so every chance he had. Rex boxed in the Golden Gloves for 4 years. To know him was to love him. He was liked and loved by everyone. Rex retired as a heavy equipment operator for Ellis County and most recent, was working as a Securtiy Officer for Landmark Security. He also served the city of Killeen as a Police Officer and was a truck driver for 26 years. He will be missed by so many who knew him and loved him.

He is survived by the love of his life, Doris Cassady of Waxahachie; his daughter, Misty Hilbert and her husband, Clifford Nash of Frost; his sons, Marty Hilbert of Ft. Worth, Rex Hilbert, Jr. of Louisianna; his brothers, Coy Hilbert and his wife, Linda of Killeen, Marion Fowler and his wife, Connie of Troy; his sister, Jane Breitkreutz and her husband, Leon of Marlin; his grandchildren, Chris Nash, and Tabitha Hilbert; 3 great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his sister, Lane Redden; his brother, Jiles Edward Hilbert; and by his mother, Zelda Walts Hilbert-Fowler.

Services to celebrate his life are scheduled for 2:00 p.m. Thursday, May 21, 2009 at the Pat Boze Memorial Chapel of Wayne Boze Funeral Home with Mathew Sanchez and Lupe Rando officiating. Interment will follow at the Bells Chapel Cemetery under the direction of Wayne Boze Funeral Home.

Visitation for family and friends will be held from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Wednesday, May 20, 2009 at Wayne Boze Funeral Home.
