Gary Leroy Bronson Born: April 23, 1934 Minden, Nebraska Died: June 19, 2010 in Waxahachie, Texas after a long battle with cancer Gary was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather who constantly made time for his family. He was always very proud of each and every member of his family. He served God and his fellow man until the very end. Gary grew up in Minden, Nebraska where he attended school. He graduated from Minden High School in 1951. He joined the U. S. Navy in 1952. He was honorably discharged in 1966 after 14 years of service. He married Joanne Doreen Enholm of Holdrege, Nebraska in 1953 at Moncks Corner, South Carolina. He graduated from Phoenix College in June 1966, Arizona State University in June 1969, TCU with a Master o Divinity in 1974, and received his Doctorate of Ministry in Pastoral Counseling at TCU in 1988. He worked as a Private Insurance Investigator from 1962 to 1974 for Retail Credit company now Equifax. He was The Pastor of First Christian Church in Waxahchie, Texas from July 1974 to August 2003 and the led the congregation in the development of the Christian Life Center which has hosted numerous interdenominational and Civic events. He was always involved in Ecumenical events both in Waxahachie and statewide. He reopened Rockett Christian Church in 1984. He also served in Christian Churches at: Maricopa, Arizona; Pilot Point, Texas; Western Hills in San Antonio, Texas; Ennis, Texas and Irving North, in Irving, Texas. Gary was an amateur Photographer and avid Camera collector. He had cameras of various sizes and backgrounds. He had a 1900 Empire State Studio Camera, Brownie Box, Polaroid's, 1902 Folding Kodak, and a Spy Camera, as well as the newest digital cameras. The spy camera was found in a sack of potatoes in Germany at the end of World War II. The Studio Camera was used in a Studio here in Waxahachie. His collection was displayed at the Ellis County Museum. He was a member of the Rotary Club, The Dallas Rotary Choir, and the Waxahachie Ministerial Alliance. He was Nominated-Texas Rural Minister of the Year by Texas A&M University and has held various positions in the North Texas Area of the Christian Church. He was preceded in death by his parents Charles Frederick Bronson and Eula Irene Jones Bronson, his sister Janelle Bronson Hammond and his Daughter Annita Jo Bronson Shoemake. He is survived by his wife Joanne Enholm Bronson, His children: daughters Sherri Bronson Turner and husband Richard, Lisa Bronson Doonan and husband Bill, and son Craig Gary Bronson and wife Bette. His grandchildren, Marcy Turner Moore and husband Keith, Shawn Turner, Natalile Shoemake Bronson, William Doonan and wife Jennifer, Rachel Doonan Smith and husband David, Brittany Doonan Songer and husband Victor, Evan Doonan, Christian Bronson and Shannon Bronson. His great grandchildren Tyler Moore, Dylan Moore, Rylie Moore, Roylee Moore, Tristan Turner, Allison Doonan, Hallie Doonan and Wilson Doonan. Celebration of Life will be held at First Christian Church in Waxahachie, Texas Saturday, June 26, 2010 at 2:00 PM. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the American Cancer Society or the Gary Bronson Memorial Fund at Citizens National Bank .
