Raymond Watkins

Lester Watkins, 74 of Red Oak, passed away Sunday, May 13, 2012 at his residence surrounded by his loving family. He was born to the late Raymond and Nannie Watkins on December 28, 1937 in Dallas County, Texas. Lester married Barbara Lee Pritchett on November 24, 1956 in Red Oak, Texas. He graduated from Midlothian High School in 1955. He was a Dallas Fireman for 20 years, retiring in 1975. He was a successful real estate developer and home builder. Lester served in the National Guard and was Mayor of Red Oak for two terms with many awards and accomplishments. Lester lived in Red Oak, Cransfills Gap and Round Rock, Texas. He will be missed and continually loved by so many. He is survived by his loving wife of 55 years, Barbara Pritchett; his son, Billy Von Watkins and his wife, Donna; his daughters, Becky Joe Watkins, Tracey Jane Estrada and her husband, Robert, Hollie Joe Berry; his sister, Janelle Thompson; 8 grandchildren, Justin, Ashley, Harley, Aaron, Amber, Hayden, Mason and Avery; along with five great grandchildren. Lester was preceded in death by his mother and father, Raymond and Nannie Watkins; his sisters, Dorothy McKinney and Alice Lee Watkins. Graveside services with Honors provided by the City of Dallas Fire Department will be held at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, May 16, 2012 at the Red Oak Cemetery, Red Oak, Texas. Visitation for family and friends will be held from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Tuesday, May 15, 2012 at Wayne Boze Funeral Home, Waxahachie.
