In Loving Memory of Raymond Bryant Covan
1951 - 2024
It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Randy on December 22, 2024 at the age of 73. A devoted husband, father, grandfather, cherished friend, and pillar of the community, Randy lived a life full of love, laughter, and selflessness.
Born on September 29, 1951 in Kauffman, Texas, his family settled in Forreston, Texas where as a teen he worked at the Dick Justice grocery store and could be found with his friends hunting and fishing in the neighboring fields and Chambers creek. He attended Forreston High school where he met his best friend, Jimmy Rodriguez, who was the brother of his future wife, Anita. At 17 he joined the army and left for Vietnam. He returned home to attend college and carpentry trade school.
He began his trade career working as a carpenter, then project foreman and superintendent constructing some of the most iconic buildings in the Dallas skyline like Reunion Tower, the Infomart and the Momentum Building. He retired from Lifoam in 2020.
Randy was a skilled carpenter whose craftsmanship left its mark on homes and hearts alike. His talents extended beyond his trade. Known as one of the best dove hunters at Onion creek, he was an avid outdoorsman, who found peace in fishing, hunting, and gardening and cooking. He also had an awesome hook shot on the basketball court. All of these skills he shared with the apples of his eyes, his children and grandchildren. He adored his loved ones and was their biggest fan in everything they did, celebrating their successes with unmatched pride.
Known for his quick wit and infectious humor, Randy loved to tell jokes and bring smiles to everyone he met. He had a natural way of connecting with people, offering a helping hand to neighbors in need, and being a steadfast friend to many. His unwavering kindness and generosity made him a cornerstone of his community.
Randy is survived by his wife, Anita Covan, a daughter, Marlina Morris, her husband Mark Garcia of Austin, a son, Chad Ray Covan, of Forreston, grandchildren, Aidan and William Morris of Austin, Annesly Raye Covan of Forreston, sister Sally Mundie of Waxahachie, and 6 nieces and nephews, as well as countless friends who were touched by his warmth and humor. He is preceded in death by his mother Faye Allene Ansley Covan and his father Wilton Bryant Covan, his father and mother-in-law, Pete Rodriguez, Sr. and Eugenia Rodriguez.
A celebration of Randy's life will be held at a later date.
We will forever hold him in our hearts, remembering his laughter, his love, and the joy he brought to our lives.
