Raymon Parks

Raymon Lee "Tommy" Parks 87 years old was born October 22, 1930 in Waxahachie, Texas and passed January 2, 2018 in Montgomery, Texas.

Tommy was the youngest of five children to Pinkney Monroe Parks and Atsy Bishop Parks. He is preceded in death by both of his parents, his brothers and sisters, Julius Parks, Ruth Parks Hayes, Ruby Parks and Jim Parks. He is also preceded in death by his son, Paul Marcus Parks and his ex-wife, mother of his children, Georgia Parks.

His living survivors are his daughter, Leann Parks McElyea and husband Danny McEllyea. His grandchildren Danielle Griffin and husband Kevin and Cody McElyea, his great grandson, Easton McElyea.

Some may wonder why he was called "Tommy". The story goes that he was so small as a baby, his father Nick names him "Tom Thumb." The name stuck, and he became known as Tommy.

Tommy got out of school and went to the Navy. He was on active duty for 4 years and served as a gunner's mate during the Korean War on the USS Springfield and the USS Mazama. He was in the Navy reserve for 2 years. His honors were: A National Defense Service Medal and Decorations and Commendations for the Japanese Occupation and China Service.
After his honorable discharge from the Navy he worked as a carpenter for a short while then went to work for the Dallas County Sheriff's Department, Montgomery County Sheriff's Department and Ellis County Sheriff's Department where after 37years he retired in 2009.

Tommy took several courses and received certificates various law enforcement classes. He is a member of the American Correctional Association, American Jail Association, Justice of the Peace and Constables Association of Texas, National Sheriff's Association, NRA and was a Oddfellow.
He loved his horses and just going out to the horse lot to spend hours peddling around. Tommy loved his
Family and friends so much.
