Rafaela A. Lomas, 90, of Waxahachie, passed away surrounded by her loving family on Tuesday, June 26, 2018 in Waxahachie. She was born October 24, 1927 in McAllen, Texas.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Santos Aguilar and Ambrosia Hernandez; her sisters - Marcela (Chele) Moya and Viviana (Mayo) Casas; her husband, Guillermo V. Lomas.
Mrs. Lomas had many names, Mother, Momma, Mar, Grandma and a special name MeeMaw. She was very much loved by her family that included her children, Grandchildren, Great-Grandchildren and Great- Great Grandchildren. Grandma was born and raised in McAllen, Texas and then in the 70's with her husband, Guillermo, moved to Waxahachie and settled in for the remainder of their lives. Grandma lived a very fulfilling life enjoying many adventures such as, traveling to Rome with her daughters (Rosie and Terry) and Grand-daughter (Christy), fishing with her son and grandchildren, going to the casinos, going to the Bryon Nelson Golf tournament, Easter gatherings and whenever she could go see her Grandchildren at school events and / or their athletic events. She also enjoyed birthday parties, especially hers. But the one thing that meant the most to Grandma was the surprised visits by any members of her family, and the phone calls as well. Those 2 things would make her extremely happy. Grandma had this rare skill or trait to make each of her family member feel as if they were the most important and loved person of this large loving family. Grandma loved music, parties, an occasional margarita or 2, any kind of family gatherings, and hosting Christmas for everyone. Grandma was very proud of the successes that ALL of her children have reached so far in their lives. Grandma was LIFE; she was the center of this Martinez/Lomas Family, The Matriarch.
Grandma We All Love You and will Miss You very much, but now Rest in Peach in Heaven and look down on us and guide us to be the Loving and Caring Person that you are. Good Night Grandma
