Robert C.Smith, age 79

Mr. Smith, a lifelong resident of Maypearl, passed away Friday morning at Baylor Medical Center Waxahachie. He was born in Maypearl (Ozro), TX. to Robert F. and Leora (Wakefield) Smith. Mr. Smith was a farmer/rancher. He was of the Methodist faith. He served on the Mt. Peak Water Board, was a member of the Maypearl Masonic Lodge and served as Corporal in the U. S. Marine Corps for three years. He trained for the Invasion of the Japan Mainland.

Mr. Smith is survived by: wife, Melba Smith of Maypearl, TX.; son and daughter-in-law, Robert R. and Cindy Smith of Georgetown, TX.; sister-in-law, Mattie Lou McElroy and her husband Pat of Waxahachie; sister, Lorene Kirkpatrick, also of Waxahachie, TX.; grandchild, Robert Shea Smith of Georgetown, stepgrandchildren, Lacy Parkinson of Memphis, TN., Jennifer Cantrell and husband Stephen of Saltillo, MS.; and numerous cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert F. and Leora Smith, one brother, James A. Smith and one niece, Pamela Jean Kirkpatrick.

The family received friends and relatives 12-2 PM Saturday at the Wayne Boze Funeral Home. The Celebration of Life was 2 PM Saturday, October 23, 2004 in the Pat Boze Memorial Chapel of the funeral home with Reverend Marvin Mott officiating. Pallbearers were Jim Bynum, Len Crow, Monte Jackson, Ken Blank, Rodney Mathers and Dwain Montanez. Honorary pallbearers were Tony Keeton, Scott Jackson, John Jackson, Calvin Jackson, Medford Marion, Odell Herrell, Horace Bratcher, Sam Brindley, Bill Smith, Joe Cornwall and Ray Lynn Campbell. Interment was in Ozro Cemetery.

Arrangements were under the direction of the Wayne Boze Funeral Home.
