Pete Clopton, a resident of Rockett, Texas for 91 years, passed away at home with family at his side on September 14, 2005. Pete was born January 8, 1914, the son of Wade and Pat Clopton. Pete was a farmer by trade but a gifted individual in many things including carpentry, mechanics, hunting and fishing. He owned and ran a hunting and fishing resort in Rockett for a number of years. In recent years he was an avid tomato grower - which he shared generously with friends. Pete also loved baseball and was a pitcher for the Ellis County Baseball League in the 1950's where he set many records. He was fifth generation member of the Rocket Christian Church, a director of the Smith Cemetery and the Rockett Gin.

Mr. Clopton is survived by: his loving wife of sixty four years, Katheryn Graves Clopton; sister, Sarty Watson of Oak Grove; nieces, Wynell Payne and Jana Payne Beeson; nephews, Wade Payne, David Beeson and the apple of his eye, five year old Wade Franklin Beeson all of Rockett, Texas; and a host of other nieces and nephews whom he loved dearly. He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Robert, Jim, Ned, Sid and Clarence; sisters, Irene and Maye Connell.

The family will receive friends and relatives 6-8 PM Thursday at the Wayne Boze Funeral Home. The Celebration of his Life will be 10 AM Friday, September 16, 2005 in the Pat Boze Memorial Chapel of the funeral home with Reverend C. D. Haun officiating. Interment will follow in the Smith Cemetery, Rockett, Texas.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Rockett Christian Church or Smith Cemetery.
