Beloved wife, mother, and grandmother, Peggy "Diane" White, 67, passed away peacefully in her sleep at her home in Maypearl, Texas, on Wednesday, October 11, 2017. Peggy Diane Boone was born June 27, 1950, to the late Lloyd Maurice Boone and Wilna Sue Wiggins of Maypearl. Upon graduation from Maypearl High School - as valedictorian - in 1967, Diane attended Navarro College and the University of Texas at Arlington, where she played basketball.
Diane will be forever remembered by her beloved husband and best friend of 49 years James Otis White. With "Jimmy" by her side, the young couple continued to make their home in Maypearl, where they both had grown up and wanted to raise their children.
For 17 years, Diane worked at the U.S. Department of Labor in Dallas. After retiring from the Department in the early 1990s, Jimmy and Diane bought and operated White's Video Store on Maypearl's Main Street until its closing in 2004. The store gave them the chance to visit with the community members whom they both so loved.
Education and sports were two of Diane's passions all of her life. No one loved her Maypearl Panthers more than she did. When her oldest child started school in 1972, she threw herself into all of the school's activities. She served as PTO President, Finance Chairman, and Room Mother for ten years. As the children entered middle and high school, Diane served as Athletic Booster Club President, Vice-President, Secretary, and Treasurer, as well as being active in Band Boosters. Diane also contributed a great deal of time to the Maypearl Youth and Softball Association as scorekeeper, kid hauler, and concession stand worker.
Diane was also an avid reader (of anything), an adventurous traveler, a lover of music (especially from the 1950s and 1960s), and a fiercely loyal friend. She enjoyed playing Keno with a group of local friends for years. When partners were not available, she would lie on her living room floor and play solitaire for hours.
Diane was a lifelong member of the Maypearl Church of Christ, where her Uncle Ronnie preached for many years. Christmas was by far the highlight of Diane's year. She cherished those times spent with family the most. Her philosophy was that a well-decorated tree should have endless brightly colored gifts under it. To this point, the grandchildren agreed!
Diane is also survived by their three loving children (and spouses) and eight treasured grandchildren. The couple's children include oldest son Johnny Lloyd White (Stacey), Brooks and Blake; favorite daughter Peggy Sue Jefferson, her children Drew and Darhyl Eubank; and the baby of the family James Lynn White (Kasey), Garren and his girlfriend Hannah Dishman, Payton, Tobi and Taylor McKay. Other survivors include Diane's baby brother Roy Lynn Boone (Kathy); precious aunts Margie Wiggins Collings, Gloria Wiggins, and Helen Wheatley; numerous cousins, nephews, nieces, and other relatives and close friends. Diane was preceded in death by her adoring parents, her faithful in-laws Otis Lloyd White and Blanche Hart, and her favorite uncle Ronald Dean Wiggins.
Services to celebrate her life are scheduled for Saturday, October 14, 2017 at 10:00 AM at the Pat Boze Memorial Chapel of Wayne Boze Funeral Home. Interment will follow at Maypearl Cemetery in Maypearl, Texas.
Visitation with the family is scheduled for Friday, October 13, 2017 from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at the Wayne Boze Funeral Home in Waxahachie.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be sent to the Maypearl Cemetery Association, Maypearl Education Foundation, or Boone Memorial Scholarship.
