Pauline Taylor

July 14, 1911 — September 20, 2012

After 101 years of good and faithful service to God, her family, her church, and her community, Pauline Elizabeth Muirhead Taylor was called home on September 20, 2012. Born July 14, 1911 to Lena and Henry Muirhead, Pauline was the third of 10 children. She began attending Farley Street Baptist Church at the age of 5 and was a member there for the remainder of her life. Recently, the church presented her with a plaque recognizing her as the member for the most number of years. She married Harry Gordon Taylor November 24, 1933. They were happily married for 49 years, when he preceded her in death April 5, 1983. They were blessed with two children; Margaret Nell Taylor Butner and Gordon Layne Taylor, 6 grandchildren; Thomas Lee Butner, Kay Lynn Butner Phillips, Barry Dewayne Taylor, Paula Elayne Taylor McKay, Karen Lee Butner, and Alicia Faye Taylor, 9 great grandchildren; Angela Butner Hopper, Jeffery Butner, Todd Martin, Jennifer Carmen Butner Clark, Nicole Taylor, Brent Layne Taylor, Corporal Joshua Alan Shell, Morgan Dee Phillips and Elisha McKay, 4 great great grandchildren; Collin Brakasma, Bryce Taylor Martin, Weston Hopper, and Peyton Butner. A woman of remarkable fortitude and determination, Pauline continued learning throughout her life. A gifted seamstress, gardener, and cook, she began oil painting at age 65. After that, her artistic interest continued to grow over the years and eventually included china painting, doll making, and even piano lessons. She enjoyed being a Mary Kay distributor and made many friends. She is survived by one sister, Georgia Muirhead Borden, her children; Margaret and Kenneth Butner of Waxahachie, Layne and Faye Taylor of Malone, her grandchildren; Thomas and D'Ann Butner of Alexandria, AR, Kay and Jerry Phillips of Waxahachie, Barry and Elizabeth Taylor of Red Oak, Paula and Hollin McKay of Bandera TX, Karen Butner of Waxahachie, and Alicia Taylor of Waxahachie, her great grandchildren; Angela and Chris Hopper, Jeffery Butner, Todd Martin, Jennifer and Travis Clark, Nicole Taylor, Brent Taylor, Joshua Shell, Morgan Phillips, and Elisha McKay, her 4 great great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. All were blessed by her life, her influence, her faith, her strength and her unconditional love. Pauline was blessed to be loved and cared for by the staff of Sterling House Assisted Living and Patty Chagnon and her staff at Lighted Pathways Hospice. Visitation for family and friends will be held Friday night 6- 8 P.M., September 21, 2012 at Wayne Boze Funeral Home. A Celebration of Life will be held in the Pat Boze Memorial Chapel of Wayne Boze Funeral Home on Saturday, September 22 at 11: 00 A.M. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Farley Street Baptist Street Building Fund.
