Paul Anselm Johansen, Jr. joined our Lord and Savior on Friday, February 1, 2013. Paul was born on April 14, 1958 at St. Mary's Hospital in Brooklyn , NY to Jacqueline and Paul Johansen. He was their 4th of 10 children. Paul grew up in Brooklyn NY , Park Ridge , NJ and Falmouth , Massachusetts until the age of 14. Paul spent the remainder of his school years in Duncanville, Texas and graduated from Duncanville High School in 1976. He lived his adult life in Duncanville , White Oak and Midlothian . Paul married Shelby and had two wonderful children, Collin and Caitlyn, who were his pride and joy. Paul's interests included hockey, snow skiing, boating, music and family. His love of hockey started at a very young age and he played into his adulthood. He passed his love of the sport on to both of his children and was a coach for youth and high school hockey teams in the Duncanville area. Paul enjoyed boating and water sports and spent countless weekends on the lake with Collin, Caitlyn and their cousins. He taught Collin and his nephew John to kneeboard at the age of 2. From water tubes, to snowboards, to ice skates, to hockey sticks, to motorcycles; Paul was always after the finest equipment to enjoy the outdoors. Paul's passion for music led him down the path to a new career opportunity. Paul was a DJ for various events, and was always ready to work at family events for free. Paul's work life started out on oil rigs as a roustabout. Paul was considered an expert in his field of Industrial Hose and Supplies. He worked across multiple regions in the North Texas area opening new stores for Four Star Hose & Supply. He most recently was self-employed as a handyman, doing landscaping, painting homes and many other types of projects. Paul loved being outdoors; be it barbecuing, frying turkeys, or camping with the family. Cooking was also his pride and he loved trying out new recipes.While Paul faced many challenges over the years, he lived his life fully and loved his family deeply. We celebrate his life with us here on earth and are grateful to have had Paul in our lives. He is survived by his children, Corporal Collin James Johansen, US Marine Corp., Caitlyn Elizabeth Johansen, New York University; his mother, Jacqueline M. Johansen; his brothers and sisters, Mary Ellen (Doug) McElroy, Jacqueline (Greg) Aylmer, Elizabeth (Gerry) Harris, John (Lydia) Johansen, Thomas Johansen, Barbara (John) Limberg, Mark Johansen, Peter (Tricia) Johansen. He was preceded in death by his father, Paul A. Johansen, Sr.; and also by his sister, Patricia Johansen Copeland. Those serving as pallbearers include, Collin Johansen, John Johansen, Thomas Johansen, Mark Johansen, Peter Johansen, Brian McElroy, Christopher Johansen and Matthew Harris. Services to celebrate his life are scheduled for 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, February 5, 2013 at the Pat Boze Memorial Chapel of Wayne Boze Funeral Home with John Johansen officiating. Interment will follow at the Waxahachie City Cemetery. Visitation for family and friends will be held from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Monday, February 4, 2013 at Wayne Boze Funeral Home.
