Patsy Ann Dees
February 1, 1935
September 30, 2007

Patsy Ann White Dees was born February 1, 1935 on the White's family farm near Venus, Texas. Her father, Ray White and her mother, Clara Louise Patterson White, were prominent members of the Venus Community. She passed away on September 30, 2007 in hospital in Dallas, Texas, after a long bout with cancer.

Patsy began her public education in the Venus School System and graduated in 1953. She came from a family of educators and those who valued learning. Patsy enrolled in Texas Wesleyan University and graduated with a teaching degree in 1956. While at Texas Wesleyan, in 1956, she met and married the love of her life, Barry Neil Dees.

Her first teaching assignment was in the Fort Worth Public Schools where she remained for a year. When Barry entered the service, Patsy moved to Killeen and taught in the Killeen School System for a year. From Killeen she joined the staff of the Irving School System beginning in 1960. She came to the Midlothian School System in 1973 and taught there until 1989.

In 1991, Patsy undertook the difficult task of teaching in a prison as she joined the Education Department at Corrections Corporation of America in Venus, Texas. The task before her was daunting, bur nothing speaks more clearly of her teaching ability and compassion than the love and respect each offender held for her.

Patsy is survived by her husband, Barry Neil Dees, Sr., her son, Barry Neil Dees, Jr. and his wife, Leticia, and her daughter, Carmen Sue Dees. Also surviving are two brothers, Ray White Jr. and wife Betty and Willis Glenn White and wife Annette; two sisters, Nancy Sue White Allen and Judy Louise White Baird. Five grandchildren also survive, Jacquelyn, Erica, Alex, Mariana and Daniela as well as a host of nieces and nephews and friends too numerous to count.

The family will receive friends and relatives from 12:30 to 2 PM Saturday, October 6, 2007 at the Wayne Boze Funeral Home. A Graveside Service will be held at 2:30 PM Saturday, October 6, 2007 at the Shiloh Cemetery.

Arrangements are under the direction of the Wayne Boze Funeral Home.
