Patsy Birmingham

Patsy Ruth Steed Birmingham was born May 30, 1946 to Ocie and Cyra Steed in Alba, Texas. She was the youngest child and only daughter with three older brothers, Ray, A.W. and J.W. Steed.

Patsy spent her adolescent years in Alba, Texas where she graduated from Alba High School in 1964.  In 1965, she married Odell Birmingham and they set up house in Garland, Texas. Two years later, Patsy gave birth to her one and only son, Geron Dale Birmingham on October 7, 1967.

Patsy devoted her time raising Geron while working in a career selling insurance.  In 1980, she became the proud owner of a successful State Farm Insurance Agency in Garland, Texas. In 1986, she returned to her country roots alongside the love of her life, Lorne Wray McMillan, where they amassed an empire based on their mutual love for animals in Waxahachie, Texas, now known as HiView Miniature Farms. What started as a conventional farm, raising pot belly pigs and miniature horses, quickly grew into an exotic wonderland focused on camels, zebras, ringtail lemurs, kangaroos, and various exotic birds.

Patsy and Lorne’s true joy in life was opening the farm to family, friends, and strangers alike to enjoy the unique world they had built together. For over thirty years, the pair found their true passion and purpose by sharing their precious animals with the public. Their camels, donkeys, sheep, and goats were featured in several festivals and churches throughout the metroplex and across Texas each Christmas for live nativity scenes and plays.

Patsy was preceded in death by her parents, Ocie and Cyra Steed, siblings, Ray Steed, and twins A.W. And J.W. Steed. Patsy was also preceded in death by her only beloved son, Geron Dale Birmingham, stepchildren Donald McMillan, Carolyn McMillan, and her husband, the love of her life, Lorne Wray McMillan.

Patsy Ruth Steed Birmingham is survived by her loving grandchildren: Ryan Dale Birmingham, Lane Wesley Birmingham, Erika Elizabeth Birmingham, and great-grandson: Brooks Dale Birmingham. Patsy is also survived by her seven stepchildren and an abundance of friends and loved ones.
