Patrick “Pat” Koennecke, loving father, husband, and longtime Waxahachie resident passed away June 7, 2019. He was born in Kerrville on June 30, 1957, to Volker and Mary Koennecke.
Pat attended high school in Waxahachie and graduated in 1975. He worked for Cardinal CG in Waxahachie for fifteen years until going on disability for pancreatic cancer in 2018.
Pat took great pride in having the most beautiful yard in the neighborhood, and he and Jan were featured seated in their gorgeous yard in a “Let’s Move Mountains” fund raising program for Baylor Healthcare System Foundation in 2017.
Pat was honored to be the guest speaker at the “Swim Across America” Luncheon on September 8, 2017, when he shared his personal journey through his diagnosis and treatment for pancreatic cancer.
Pat is survived by Jana Edrington-Koennecke, wife, and two brothers and sisters-in-law, Mike and Debbie Koennecke of Mansfield and Joe and Christy Koennecke of Benbrook, and one sister and brother-in law, Teresa and Mark Watts of Paris, along with numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. Pat was preceded in death by his son, Brian Patrick Koennecke, and his parents, Volker and Mary Koennecke.
Pat was a loyal and fierce friend who was absolutely committed to those he loved, unless they got between him and his fantasy football winning streak.
A memorial service to celebrate Pat’s life will be held at 1:00pm on Wednesday, June 12, 2019, in the Pat Boze Memorial Chapel of Wayne Boze Funeral Home, Waxahachie, TX.
A special thank you to Dr. Scott Celinski and Dr. Carlos Bacerrra from Baylor Sammons Cancer Center in Dallas and Roxanne Wyckoff, LCSW. Thank you to Bristol Hospice for the care and support provided to Pat and his family during the end of his journey.
Special thanks to the Cardinal Glass Family who provided friendship and support throughout this time and made many of our dreams come true.
