Patrick Kirts

Patrick Willard Kirts, age 52 of Papillion, Nebraska, passed away peacefully on Saturday February 5, 2022, in Texas surrounded by his loving family, following his final wish to sit and look over the beach, feel the suns warmth on his face, and listen to the waves rush towards him.  Over the past 6 months, Patrick, his family, and friends created a special bond of love, strength, compassion, and caring to help each other face and accept the knowing of an ending, that no one imagined and didn’t want to see come.

Patrick “Pat” was born May 14, 1969, in Kearney, NE to Dale Edwin and Willa Jean (Pease) Kirts.  He grew up in North Platte, NE.  After graduating North Platte Senior High School in 1988, he continued his education and earned an associate degree from Mid-Plains Community College in Computer Aided Drafting and Design in 1990.  Patrick was an Artist at heart who had many passions throughout his life, from drawing and painting, working on cars, tinkering to figure out and fix the broken, and building with his own hands.

Pat’s way of life was unique, in that he found peace and happiness in the simplest pleasures. His stature in character was solemn, honest, hardworking, taking nothing for granted and lived his life of personal pursuits with an ambition, dedication, and nurturing personality.  He was always there willing to help others, wiping sweat from his brow with a smile on his face.  He loved building and remodeling his home with his wife Lana and their children.  When not at home, Patrick’s dedication and focus was on his work, where he found a belonging and enjoyed his last 9 years as a building custodian with Papillion La Vista Community Schools.

Pat is survived by his spouse Lana (Green) Kirts, and just celebrated 25 years of marriage on October 19, 2021, and during this union of life together, created a beautiful family with four children, Connor, Spencer, Haley, and Landon of Papillion, Nebraska; Step-parents Robert & LaVonne Green of Lincoln, NE; Cheryl and Jack Rushing of Waxahachie, TX; David Green of Lincoln, NE; siblings: Pam Youngs of North Platte, NE, Jeff (Jennifer) Kirts of Colorado Springs, CO, Steven (Julie) Kirts of Ames, IA; and many Nephews and Nieces: Matt & Jeremy Dermer; Chelsey Spady; Jacob, Tanner, & Hunter Kirts; Sarah Spain & Kyle Kirts; Seth, Zach, Jordan, Sierra Rushing; David, Nathanial, Tiffany Green. He was preceded in death by his parents Dale and Willa Kirts, and sister Kimberly Dermer of North Platte, Nebraska.

Memorials are suggested in his name to Papillion La Vista Community School Foundation – Special Education Needs, 242 W Grant Street, Papillion, NE 68046.  Cremation was chosen and Celebration of Life services will be on Saturday, April 2, 2022, 10:00am at Good News Church, 7415 Hickory Street, Omaha, Nebraska 68124.
