Pat Britt, 86, of Waxahachie, died Sunday afternoon, one day short of his 87th birthday. He was born in Neola, Texas to Mose Lee, Sr. and Lillian (Vaughn) Britt and was reared in Greenville. He was the fourth of six children born to them. He married Tina Webster in Rockwall, Texas on January 10, 1945. She preceded him in death on March 31, 1989.

Pat was a life-long Christian and a member of the Episcopal Church. He was a devoted father and husband, and it could truly be said of him that he never met a stranger. He served his country as a Master Sergeant in the Air Force during World War II in England and during the Korean War he was stationed stateside. Pat was especially proud of reaching the rank of 32nd degree in the Ft. Worth Masonic Lodge. He was a member of the Greenville Kiwanis Club. He was employed in a variety of sales positions during a long working career, and retired from the Sherwin-Williams Company in 1978. He loved a good story and a good drink, and will be deeply missed by all who know and love him.

He is survived by: a son, Jim Britt of Austin; a daughter, the Reverend Diane Britt of Rocky Mount, NC; two sisters, Mattye Maude Murphree of Dallas and Marilee Block of Dennison; and his beloved Ruth. He was preceded in death by his parents , and three brothers.

The family will receive friends and relatives 6-8 PM Tuesday at the Wayne Boze Funeral Home. A memorial service will be at 2 PM Wednesday, March 19, 2003 at the St. Paul Episcopal Church, 624 Ovilla Rd., Waxahachie, TX. with Father Jerry Hill officiating.
