On Saturday, May 15, 2021, Patricia Lou “Pat” McCarroll, wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and friend to many passed away peacefully, at VITAS Inpatient Hospice in Dallas, at the age of 74.
She was born April 18, 1947, in Corsicana, TX. She is preceded in death by her parents John T. & Minnie Lou Cooper; brother Jackie Cooper; sister Mary McCullough; sister-in-law Billie Cooper; and grand-daughter Gracie Jo McCarroll.
Pat (Momma/Mamaw) will be forever be remembered by her husband of 57 years, Jerry McCarroll; sons Tommy McCarroll and James McCarroll; daughters Tressa Gregory (and husband Keith), and Shannon Owen (and husband Steven); Grandchildren April Greenberg (and husband Brandon); Amber Plattenberger (and husband Scott); Kevin McCarroll (and wife Sanada); Kourtnee Hayes; Shauna Steele; Austin McCarroll (and wife Angel); Tyler McCarroll; Sterling Owen; Slade Owen, and Skyler McCarroll; and Great-grandchildren Brady & Ashlyn Greenberg; Blaine, Bryant, & Azaria McCarroll; Annalinne Hayes; Connor, Khaleesi, & Arya Stroud; Karlee Plattenberger; and Sherre, Austin Jr., & Travis McCarroll.
She also leaves behind a sister Jimmie Chaffin (and husband Don); a brother Dickie Cooper; numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins; extended family; and many dear friends.
Pat lived most of her life around the DeSoto/Lancaster, Texas area. She worked as a waitress for many years; first at Kipps Big Boy in Dallas and then at Golden Corral in DeSoto. Over the years, she had many hobbies including doodling, collecting all things (especially Elvis memorabilia, snow globes, McDonald’s toys, Christmas décor, cookie jars, and dolls), and had a passion for taking pictures (even though she hated for her picture to be taken). She turned that passion for picture taking into a side job- one that allowed her to make additional happy clients and customers. She enjoyed crafting projects (especially for others). She had a creative vision (that included woodworking, painting, drawing, and sewing Halloween costumes) and she would work tirelessly to make the creation special for the intended recipient.
She had such a quirky sense of humor (and could tell some wild stories). Pat had a love for serving others and had a way of knowing things- way more than she let on. There wasn’t much you could get by her, that she didn’t already know somehow.
Her final earthly celebration will be held on Saturday, July 31, 2021 from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m., at Lone Star Cowboy Church, 1011 Ovilla Rd. Red Oak, TX. 75154 with a potluck lunch and fellowship to follow.
