Pablo Jacinto

June 26, 1944 — December 28, 2018

Italy, Texas

Pablo Jacinto, 74 of Italy, passed away Friday, December 28, 2018, 7 years to the day that he lost his loving wife of 47 years, Vanda.

He was born June 26, 1944 in Italy, Texas to Margarito and Julia Gutierrez Jacinto.

Pablo graduated from Italy High School in 1962 and then attended Hill Junior College on a basketball scholarship, then decided to train at Curtis Mathis in Athens.  He married Vanda Kay Cumbie in Athens, Texas on December 5, 1964.

They started their family and welcomed a son, Jeffrey Paul in 1968, followed by a daughter, Beatrice Kay in 1970.

Pablo was active in the Jaycees while living in Athens.  He had been on the Italy Volunteer Fire Department for a time, as well as being a First Responder ECA for Italy EMS.  He proudly served our country in the United States Army from 1966-1968 and was a Vietnam Veteran.  He retired from the Texas Army National Guard after 25 years of service. Pablo also retired from US Postal Service.

In his younger years, he was always ready to play basketball or softball.  He loved reading western novels and watching “Cowboy and Indians”, especially “Gunsmoke.”  He jokingly was always waiting for the episode where Marshall Dillon finally got to kiss Miss Kitty.

He never met a stranger and was always ready to help those in need.  His grandchildren were the light of his life and he never missed an opportunity to spend time with them.

He loved sitting at Mansell’s giving the girls a hard time and visiting with whoever came in the store.

He is survived by his son, Jeffrey Jacinto and wife Misty of Comanche, TX; his daughter, Kay Kerr and husband Farrin of Copperas Cove, TX; his grandchildren, Brandon Jacinto of Italy, TX, Payton Williams and Cutter Jacinto of Comanche, TX, and Emma and Avery Kerr of Copperas Cove, TX.; his brother, Lucio Jacinto and Mary of Italy, TX; his sister-in-Laws, Margaret Jacinto of DeSoto, TX, Alice Jacinto of Itasca, TX, and  Terry York of Athens, TX; his brother-in-Law, Ronald Cumbie of Chattanooga, TN.; he is also survived by his lifelong friends, Vicente and Paula Guerrero of Italy, TX, and Tommy and Ruth Ann Durden of Athens, TX.; also by special niece and nephews, Anna & Jeff Moore and Lee Paul Savala of Waxahachie, TX , as well as,  numerous nieces and nephews.
