Otila Cantu, 90 of Waxahachie, passed away on Thursday, March 13, 2008 in a local nursing home. She was born to the late Regino & Paula Lopez Tamez on December 16, 1917 in Bridgeport, Texas.

Otila owned and operated the Loma Alta Mexican Restaurant for 25 years in Waxahachie. She was a member of Central Baptist Church in Italy and enjoyed sewing and crocheting. She loved taking care of her family and spending time with them. She will be missed by so many who knew her and loved her.

She is survived by her sons, Joe E. Cantu of Waxahachie, Regan E. Cantu of West, Johnny R. Cantu and his wife, Susan of Midlothian; sisters, Tomasa Cantu of Ft. Wayne, IN., Geneva Corona of Norman, OK.; brother, Ben Valdez of Wichita Falls; sister-in-law, Joan Tamez of Garland; she is also survived by 10 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; and 7 great-great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Andrew O. Cantu, Sr.; son, Andrew O. Cantu, Jr.; 3 brothers; and 2 grandsons, Andrew O. Cantu, III & John Charles Cantu.

Services to celebrate her life are scheduled for 2:00 p.m. Saturday, March 15, 2008 at the Pat Boze Memorial Chapel of Wayne Boze Funeral Home with Rev. George Solis officiating. Interment will follow at the Waxahachie City Cemetery.

Visitation with the family will be held from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Friday, March 14, 2008 at Wayne Boze Funeral Home.
