Orville J. Hafner, age 99

Mr. Hafner passed away Thursday night at the Grace Presbyterian Village in Dallas. He was born in Jewell County, Kansas to Frank and Lena (Intermill) Hafner. He graduated from high school from Northbranch Academy in 1924, and from Friends University in 1929. Mr. Hafner received his Masters Degree from Fort Hays State University during his teaching career. He married Lorene Howard on June 30, 1931. He worked in the insurance industry after college and then moved to Jewell County to farm his fatheré�'s farm in the mid-30é�'s. The last 25 years of his career were spent in the education field where he was a guidance counselor of the Kansas School System. Mr. Hafner was a long time member of the Lions Club. He moved to the Dallas area in 1980, moving from Burr Oak, Kansas. Mr. Hafner was a Quaker and a lifelong member of the North Branch Friends Church in Kansas. He had attended the First Baptist Church of Midlothian for the past 25 years.

Survivors include: son and daughter-in-law, Howard Hafner and Brenda of Red Oak;
six grandchildren; seven great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, and wife Lorene Olive, and daughter Verna Jean Hafner.

The family will receive friends and relatives from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday, April 10, 2006 at the Wayne Boze Funeral Home. The Celebration of Life will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday, April 11, 2006 in the Pat Boze Memorial Chapel in the Wayne Boze Funeral Home with Jim Johnson officiating.
