Ollie Mae Bassett, age 84

Mrs. Bassett passed away Friday morning at Windsor Place, Lancaster. She was born in Booneville, AR. toGeorge L. and Pearl (Barnett) Swaim. She and John C. Bassett were married December 24, 1939 also in Booneville. They moved to Dallas, Texas in 1946. Mrs. Bassett retired from Mary Kay Cosmetics after 30 years of service. In early years, she was a telephone operator in Texas and Oklahoma. She enjoyed being a housewife, taking care of her husband, family and her flowers. Mrs. Bassett was a member of the Trinity Assembly of God Church in Cedar Hill.

Her survivors include: her husband of 67 years, John C. Bassett of Lancaster; son and daughter-in-law, William E. and Karen Bassett of Athens; daughter, Patricia Dover of DeSoto; brother and sister-in-law, Hoyte G. and Carol Sue Swaim of Mesquite;sisters, Esther Garner and husband J.C. of Mesquite and Ruth Duguid of Magazine, AR.; five grandchildren, two step-grandchildren and eleven great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Lonnie Swaim; sister, Claudean Witt.

The family will receive friends and relatives 4-6 PM Sunday at the Red Oak Funeral Home. The Celebration of Life will be 2 PM Monday, May 7, 2007 in the Chapel of the Funeral Home with interment following in the Red Oak Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Michael Bennett, Russell Bassett, Kirk Bassett, Gary Smith, Wayne Garner, and Stephen Swaim.
