Odell Vaughn

Odell Windell Vaughn 82 of Waxahachie, went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Wednesday morning, November 9,2016. He was born September 1,1934 in Peoria, Texas to Elwood Self and Mamie Lorena (Wood) Vaughn.

Odell was recently preceded in death by his wife of 57 years, Helen Jean (Myers) Vaughn of Waxahachie.

He is survived by his children, Jimmy and wife Vanessa Vaughn of Waxahachie, Virginia and husband Allen Hess of Palmer, Philip and wife Debra Vaughn of Waxahachie; His grandchildren, James Lee Vaughn, William Brice Vaughn, Philip Lloyd Vaughn Jr., Derick Allen Vaughn, and 5 great grandchildren. He is survived by his sister in-law Eunice Vaughn of Stratford, Texas, brother in-law Ralph and wife Coralie Myers of Casper, WO. and brother in- law George and wife Dorris Myers of Gerogetown, MA. Several nieces and nephews; Also by special extended family, Missy Miller, Johnny Stephens and Bubba Storz.

Odell is also preceded in death by his parents, Elwood and Mamie Vaughn; His brother Haywood Vaughn, sister Dorothy Rolens; brother in-law Ardith Rolens; father in-law and mother in-law William Virginia Myers; His sister in-law Marguerite Harlan; his brother in-law Bill Harlan and his son David Paul Vaughn.

Odell served in the served in the Air Force. He attended college at UTA. He worked for the City of Waxahachie many years and retired from there.

He was a devoted Christian, and very loving husband to his one and only love of his life Helen. He was a wonderful father, grandpa and friend.

He never met a stranger and was always willing to help anyone in need. He will forever be missed.
