Norene Williams West passed away suddenly on April 27, 2007 at her home in Palmer, Texas. She was born on November 11, 1924 to Jesse and Lena Mae Williams in Mesquite, Texas. Norene attended Mesquite schools and married Brice Melvin West on June 24, 1941.
Melvin and Norene were longtime members of Second Baptist Church of Dallas (formerly Forney Avenue Baptist Church) where she was a director of Girls' Auxiliary, taught youth Sunday School, and worked in the nursery.
Prior to retiring from B & L Supply Company, she worked at Loyd's Variety Stores and National Casket Company.
She is survived by her daughter, Joan West Morton; sister, Dorothy Jeane Wiley and husband James; aunt, Eula Jeane Smith; granddaughter, Anne-Marie Morton Scott and husband Keith; and great-grandchildren, Casey and Gracen-Mae, and many, many, friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, son-in-law Dennis K. Morton, and companion W.C. Coker.
The family will receive friends and relatives from 4 to 6 p.m. on Sunday, April 29, 2007 at the Wayne Boze Funeral Home in Waxahachie. The Celebration of her life will be held Monday, April 30, 2007 at 11:00 A.M. in the Pat Boze Memorial Chapel of the funeral home with Reverend James Jordan and Reverend Joe Jack Mills officiating. Burial will be at Laurel Oaks Memorial Park in Balch Springs at 2 P.M.
Memorials may be made to the Mission Fund at the First Baptist Church of Waxahachie, your local S.P.C.A. or a charity of your choice.
