N.B. (Buck) Jordan of Waxahachie passed away peacefully on January 6, 2014; Buck was a lifelong resident of Waxahachie, born July 6, 1932. He was the fourth of six children born to N.B. (Nick) and Lucy Jordan. He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers, Stanley (Corky )Jordan, Charles Jordan and Rodgers Jordan and two sisters, Mariam Seegers and Bettye Morris. Buck had several careers that spanned his life in Waxahachie, he retired from AT&T after 31 years in 1984, one week later he took over the helm of The Waxahachie Chamber of Commerce as CEO until his retirement in 2001. It was this second career where Buck really poured his heart into. He played a key role in bringing many businesses and industries to the Waxahachie area, including the Super Collider Project before it was closed down. He was a firm believer in Waxahachie and that he was available for all businesses no matter how large or small. He continued to serve Waxahachie after his retirement from the Chamber of Commerce by serving on the City Council and later Mayor of Waxahachie. Buck was an ambassador of and for Waxahachie and its citizens. He worked tirelessly on many projects and committees even after he was diagnosed with Cancer. He was never too busy to listen or help anyone in Waxahachie. Buck's other passion was sports; he was an avid golfer up until a few years before his death. He and his lifelong friend Jerry Roberts manned the scoreboard and clock at Old Wilemon Field and Lumpkins Stadium for over 40 years. He served as President of the Waxahachie Pony League, along with being a coach for his son's team. He did PA work for many years at Richards Park. Buck is survived by his wife Jane Jordan of Waxahachie, Nick Jordan and his wife Renee' of Athens, Jeff Jordan and his wife Kari of Castroville, TX, six grandchildren, Nicole Dunn of Waxahachie, Jason Jordan of Waxahachie, Lindsey and Rocky Whitely of Conroe, Jessica Johnston of Dallas, Jared Jordan of Athens, and Lexi Jordan of Conroe, also five Great Grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. Visitation will be held Wednesday, January 8, 2014 from 6pm-8pm at The Wayne Boze Funeral Home in Waxahachie and a Memorial Service will be held Thursday, January 9, 2014 at 2pm at The Civic Center in Waxahachie. Pallbearers will be: Jerry Roberts, Kevin Strength, Gary Cantrell, Justin Wakeland, Phil Reynolds and Dr. Sonny Roye. Honorary Pallbearers will be: George and Mark Singleton, John Wray ,Chuck Beatty, Paul Stephens and Shawn Dunn. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to The American Cancer Society or a Charity of the person's choosing. Reverend Walter Buchanan will be officiating, speakers at the Memorial Service will be, Kevin Strength, Congressman Joe Barton and Jeff Jordan. http://www.waynebozefuneralhome.com/
