Phil Smith, 94 of Waxahachie, passed away on Monday, May 5, 2008 at Baylor Medical Center of Waxahachie. She was born to the late Burl S. & Lizzie Moore Spears on October 23, 1913 in Maypearl, Texas.

Phil enjoyed working in her yard, cooking and spending time with her family. She loved quilting and crocheting. She fell in love and married W. John Smith on May 31, 1933 in Lone Elm, Texas. Phil became a member of Farley Street Baptist Church in 1946 where she was very active. She loved her church family and everyone loved her. She leaves behind many friends and loved ones who will miss her.

She is survived by her daughters, Joneece "Sam" Abbie and her husband, Robert of Murphy, Texas, Faye Linn Fowlkes and her husband, Charles of Waxahachie; 5 grandchildren, Carla Shaw and husband, John, Heidi Bow and husband, Bill, Zac Stanfield and wife, Khristina, Tiffany Lamb and husband, Garland, Stormy Stanfield and husband, Chris; 21 great-grandchildren; and 2 great-great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her loving husband in 1982, W. John Smith; brother, Grass Spears; sister, Amy Jewel Spears; 2 grandsons, Bob Abbie & Robert Chambers; and special nephew, Ed Spears.

Services to celebrate her life are scheduled for 10:00 a.m. Thursday, May 8, 2008 at the Pat Boze Memorial Chapel of Wayne Boze Funeral Home with Rev. Jim Lewis officiating. Interment will follow at the Waxahachie City Cemetery.
Visitation with the family will be held from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Wednesday, May 7, 2008 at Wayne Boze Funeral Home.

In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that donations be made to the charity of one's choice.
