Mrs. Roper passed away Friday afternoon at Methodist Central Hospital in Dallas. She was born in Tishamingo, Oklahoma to Guy Edward and Myrtle (Weems) Payne. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Waxahachie and was a member of the Fidelus Sunday School at the church. She married Vernon H. Roper on January 18, 1944 in Darrouzette, Texas and was a bookkeeper and a homemaker.


Mrs. Roper is survived by her husband Vernon Roper of Italy, Texas; 2 Sons and Daughters in Law: Kerry and Vicky Roper of Houston, Tx. and Randy and Faye Roper of Italy, Texas. 1 Daughter and Son in Law; Debby and Pierce Leake of Italy, Texas.;
1 Brother: Jack Payne of Amarillo, Texas 2 Sisters: Lahoma & Bob Brown of Orlando, Florida and Lori and Dawn Mefford of Dallas, Texas. 8 Grandchildren: Dina and Britt Sims, Kara and Michael Rodriquez, Brian and Amy Leake, Keli Leake, Randall Roper, Rise and Glen Jones, Georgie and Clayton Swize and Nolan and Dondee Fowler. 13 Great Grandchildren: She was preceded in death by her parents and 2 sisters.

The family will receive friends and relatives 7-9 PM Monday at the Wayne Boze Funeral Home. The Celebration of Life will be 11 AM Tuesday, November 04, 2003 at the First United Methodist Church in Waxahachie with Dr. Richard Reed officiating. Interment will be at 3 PM Tuesday at the DFW National Cemetery in Dallas, Texas.
